I’m interested in biohacking, but only the kind that fits into real life. If it feels stressful, I don’t do it.
Here are a few things that genuinely make a difference for me:
✨ Protein before sugar
- This one is huge for skin, energy, and mood.
- I try to get protein in early – collagen included – before anything sweet. It keeps my blood sugar steadier and prevents that mid-morning crash.
✨ Breakfast ideas I genuinely rotate between:
- Eggs (simple, nourishing, reliable)
- Sardines — I love the new appreciation for them, and they definitely feed my love of Portugal and my Portuguese roots
- Greek yoghurt with nuts and maybe some stewed apple
- Nothing complicated. Just real food that actually keeps me full.
✨ Light exposure (the free kind)
- Having two dogs – Mabel and Wilbur – means I get outside every single morning whether I feel like it or not.
- That early walk gives me fresh air, natural light, and a bit of mental space before the day begins. Even on the mornings I’d rather stay in bed, I always feel better when I get back after my walk.
- It clears my head, supports my circadian rhythm, and gives me some quiet time with my thoughts – which honestly feels just as important as any supplement.
✨ Red light therapy
- I also try to make time for red light therapy, whether that’s a panel or an LED mask.
I’ve found it hugely beneficial for:- Skin health
- Mood
- Sleep quality
- It’s one of those tools that feels gentle but powerful – and when I’m consistent, I really notice the difference.
✨ Sleep is the real anti-ageing tool
- I will choose sleep over almost everything.
- Collagen supports skin, yes – but sleep is where the real anti-ageing magic happens. If I’m run down, inflamed, or exhausted, no supplement can outwork that.
- A lot of my friends love taking collagen in the evening, especially if they struggle with sleep – mixing it into a warm, milky turmeric latte or hot cacao as part of their wind-down ritual.
✨ Heat + cold (no extremes)
- I love heat. Sauna, hot baths, long showers.
- Cold? I flirt with it.
- Sometimes it’s a cool rinse at the end of a shower. Sometimes it’s just fresh air on my face. Enough to wake up my system without making me miserable.
The key, for me, is that making sure whatever I choose fits easily into my life. If I have to work at it, the consistency slips. So I keep it easy because, whether it’s your spoonful of collagen every day or your sleep routine, consistency is everything!
